Improving Multiple Fault Diagnosability using Possible Conflicts ?

چکیده
Multiple fault diagnosis is a difficult problem for dynamic systems. Due to fault masking, compensation, and relative time of fault occurrence, multiple faults can manifest in many different ways as observable fault signature sequences. This decreases diagnosability of multiple faults, and therefore leads to a loss in effectiveness of the fault isolation step. We develop a qualitative, event-based, multiple fault isolation framework, and derive several notions of multiple fault diagnosability. We show that using Possible Conflicts, a model decomposition technique that decouples faults from residuals, we can significantly improve the diagnosability of multiple faults compared to an approach using a single global model. We demonstrate these concepts and provide results using a multi-tank system as a case study.

On Design for IDDQ-Based Diagnosability of CMOS Circuits Using Multiple Power Supplies
This paper presents a novel approach to improving the IDDQ-based diagnosability of a CMOS circuit by dividing the circuit into independent partitions and using a separate power supply for each partition. This technique makes it possible to implement multiple IDDQ measurement points, resulting in improved IDDQ-based diagnosability. The paper formalizes the problem of partitioning a circuit for t...
متن کاملA qualitative event-based approach to multiple fault diagnosis in continuous systems using structural model decomposition
Multiple fault diagnosis is a difficult problem for dynamic systems, and, as a result, most multiple fault diagnosis approaches are restricted to static systems, and most dynamic system diagnosis approaches make the single fault assumption. Within the framework of consistency-based diagnosis, the challenge is to generate conflicts from dynamic signals. For multiple faults, this becomes difficul...

Automated fault diagnosis has significant practical impact by improving reliability and facilitating maintenance of systems [1]. Given a monitor continuously receiving observations from a dynamic eventdriven system, diagnosis algorithms infer possible fault events that explain the observations. For many applications, it is not sufficient to identify what faults could have occurred; rather, one ...

Complex engineering systems require efficient fault diagnosis methodologies, but centralized approaches do not scale well, and this motivates the development of distributed solutions. This work presents an event-based approach for distributed diagnosis of abrupt parametric faults in continuous systems, by using the structural model decomposition capabilities provided by Possible Conflicts. We d...

Diagnosis of Intermittent Faults in Discrete Event Systems Hu Hong Master of Applied Science Graduate Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering University of Toronto September 2012 Fault diagnosis in discrete event systems is studied using a state-based framework. Faults can be either intermittent or permanent. For intermittent faults, system may recover from faulty behaviour through re...
